The Cape Town Concert Series has celebrated over 70 years of music making with more than 1000 solo and chamber music recitals. Our second season for 2026 has a proudly South African foundation bringing chamber music, Baroque and new works to the fore.

This September we collaborate once more with the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra as part of the week-long Cape Town Baroque Festival. Since 2015, the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra (CTBO) has presented all of its annual concerts on original baroque instruments or copies of historical instruments. In an exciting first for the CTBO, and in collaboration with the Cape Town Concert Series, they will venture into early Classical repertoire performed on period-appropriate instruments. Exploring stylistic developments from the late Baroque onwards, the programme will include works by Telemann and symphonies by CPE Bach, Haydn and Mozart.

Dutch early music specialist, recorder player and regular CTBO Guest Director Erik Bosgraaf will conduct this concert. Bosgraaf has recently been appointed as the Artistic Director of The London International Festival of Early Music, and has a long-standing collaboration with the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra as guest conductor.

The concert takes place at 11am in the Baxter Concert Hall. Refreshments are on sale, and drinks/coffee can be taken into the hall to enjoy with the music. The Cape Town Concert Series invites the audience to meet the musicians in the foyer after the concert to talk more about their music.
