Beyond differences in taste, debates about what constitutes art, and even what makes art good, have sparked countless arguments over the years. The friendship of three long-time friends, Serge, Marc and Yvan, is pushed to breaking point when Serge purchases a large and expensive painting. What begins as a disagreement about the value of a work of art soon evolves into a much deeper conflict, exposing tensions and truths that extend far beyond aesthetics.

Yasmina Reza's razor-sharp comedy Art, written by one of the most celebrated contemporary French playwrights, remains one of the greatest successes in modern theatre. Internationally, the play has received numerous prestigious accolades, including the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award for Best New Play.

This South African production has also earned widespread acclaim, receiving several awards and nominations, including the Kanna Award and the Woordtrofee for Best Ensemble, as well as the Kanna Award for Best Production at the 2025 Klein Karoo National Arts Festival (KKNK).
