Alice in the Cape Flats is a story of discovery and acceptance — the discovery of who we’ve always been, and the radical act of embracing it. We follow Alice as she embarks on a whimsical journey through time, encountering a host of fantastical characters who each reveal a piece of the truth she’s been searching for. From the mischievous charm of Double D and the magnetic mystery of The Hatter, to the stern wisdom of the Reading Queen, every figure Alice meets is a mirror of her inner world — a manifestation of the many selves she’s learning to accept.

This production reflects life under the weight of societal pressures — a society obsessed with perfection and fueled by insecurity — and what it means to resist that, especially as a queer, femme-presenting individual in the Cape Flats. The characters are not just figments of imagination, but vibrant celebrations of Cape Town’s Kullit queerness. This spirit pulses through the heart of the production.
